Zoë Lawton

Zoë is a sole barrister providing pro bono legal advice and representation to victims of sexual harm alongside her private client work in family and medical law. Zoë worked as a legal researcher for the Chief Victims Advisor to Government at the Ministry of Justice prior to becoming a barrister. She has previously been awarded funding as an individual legal researcher by the NZ Law Foundation to undertake research on integrated family violence courts, which included consultation with judges and court staff in the United States and Canada. Prior to this she was the judge’s clerk to the Principal Family Court Judge. In 2018 she was nominated by the Auckland Women's Lawyers Association for the Women of Influence Awards (volunteer category) for her advocacy that raised awareness of the prevalence of sexual harm in the employment context, particularly in the legal profession.
